I wasn’t satisfied with my first fishers of men painting. As much as I love watercolor, I felt that this painting needed the vibrancy and texture. So I painted another one in more of my style. I’m much happier with this one

“Fishers of Men”

Mark 1 Jesus calls fishers to not just fish for fish, but for men, to build the kingdom.

They immediately followed him and left everything behind.

I think about how they immediately left their old life and “stability” for someone who didn’t necessarily promise that.

But he promised more than that.

Fulfillment.

Isn’t that what we’re all chasing? What we wish our jobs and families did for us?

And yet, that fulfillment only comes from following Christ.

So follow him. And become a fisher of men.

The Carpenters!

This is so much more than JUST a commission.

When I do a commission for people I’m not just painting figures, but real people with real stories.

As I was painting, I thought about how these two had built their relationship on Christ which is perfect with the last name Carpenter!

To the Carpenters, may you always be builders of the kingdom of God as you vowed that day. Thank you for letting me be a part of your story!

“Happy Memorial Day” always seemed like an odd phrase to me.

Sure it’s happy for those who get a long weekend with their family,

but as a new military spouse, and even before that

I knew that there are many families who are still mourning on memorial day.

It becomes more evident to me every day the sacrifices that our military personnel and families make every day.

And many of them have and will sacrifice with their life.

So yes, enjoy this day with your family. Please, please enjoy every minute.

Because there are families today that won’t be spending time together

And they make that sacrifice so that you can be together in safety.
